She checked out years ago and is still checked out. She is coming back on her terms and telling us very clearly that she doesn't give a f*** and is ok with the consequences of such behavior. A friend onces said about her that she was a victim of believing her on hype. He may be right. Lauryn is exemplary of the saying I just coined, a brilliant artist does not a good entertainer make. She just so happened to get the combo right the first time but then proceeded to OD on trying to be an entertainer which (for both her fans and then that Marley) and it didn't work, neither for us or her.
I tire of the "WTF is Lauryn doing?" criticisms so I am glad to read that yours was not another one of those. The answer to that questions, is that she is doing her. We don't have to like it, nor support it but we should respect.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5907788645425948477.post-74500654159241181562011-01-25T20:07:05.171-05:002011-01-25T20:07:05.171-05:00I completely agree w/ you Ndygo! Sure, it would be great to see her sitting triumphantly on top of the mountain again. Indeed, but in life there are no mountains without valleys & the deepest valleys often hold the greatest lessons. We revere Ms. Hill because she contributed such remarkable substance, sincerity & grace to an industry that is often submerged in 'unrealness'. I think if we truly value her purpose we will respect her as she learns her lessons... Plus, as the proverb goes "not all who wander are lost".
You are welcome to check out my article on Ms. Hill @
http://thekushkemetrevue.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5907788645425948477.post-8254715022256410752011-01-25T18:06:48.513-05:002011-01-25T18:06:48.513-05:00Deep! We're not even talking about the same level of stardom & impact. & people balked when Jazmine Sullivan said she needed a break recently. This weight is A LOT to carry, speaking as someone WAY on the outside who hasn't had to carry it. Hell, the weight of being a regular human being 4 days out of 7 gets a lil' heavy.

I feel for her!!Ndygo Sunshynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08821060076647560046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5907788645425948477.post-26670423822652929652011-01-24T23:26:46.437-05:002011-01-24T23:26:46.437-05:00Well said! I wish someone would tell her the truth or get her some medication!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
