I am excited. I had started to have some reservations about giving my summer away to professional development. When I received the orientation information that broke down the outcomes and requirements, just shy of a blood sample & my car title, my interest stood stock still. I promised myself I'd at least show up for the orientation and reserve the right to give them my ass to kiss if the ridiculousness got any louder. I'm glad that sometimes I'm able to make me shut up & push through. This is my 1st creation with the DC Area Teachers Writing Project. It happened before our introductions, given 5 minutes. What we each shared about ourselves made me excited about what I/we would produce as well as the camaraderie that I'm sure will be born of this process. I can't wait to see what comes next...though most of it, I'm sure, won't be shared here.
In these days where the standing still is making my feet hurt, I feel like something new and positive is about to come forth. The opportunities I've learned can be afforded me from completing this process make me tingle with possibilities. This isn't packing my life up and gettin' the hell outta dodge, but it does feel like I'm passing Go, collecting $200 & ready to set up some new hotels on Park Place. My new style is coming together.
Watch me move.
