So what now after #SoWhatNow

This had to be drafted so that MAYBE I could do this even a little justice.

#SoWhatNow was a seed planted in love for Black girls and Black women. With ridiculously unexpected emotional, financial, intellectual, creative, & energetic support, the seed has been watered & is BEGINNING to grow--because this is just the beginning..

The time put into making #SoWhatNow happen has taught me more about my capabilities; to trust in the value of my ideas, that if I call, they will come; reach, like success, is relative & therefore there are no failures; & I can't fall too low with all these hands supporting my front & back.

I was also reminded that these same youth that adults complain about being too this & not enough that, are WAITING for someone to care enough, to value them enough to share of themselves honestly with them. & so these young women gave up their Saturday. In the summer. In the dwindling days before heading off to college. Some from 10 am to after 10 pm. On trust alone.

It still doesn't feel like I have the right words to capture the power of & in the 2 days spent with college-bound young women. I have been given permission by a friend & supporter not to try, to honor the space created & focus on ensuring that this is the 1st time instead of the only time. There will be so many occasions these young women will have to ask & be asked #SoWhatNow? What I owe to you, the supporters, is my bottomless gratitude & a commitment to #SWNWinterBreak & #SWN18.
