Letter Writing Challenge Day 1 (for me): Dear Crush

The Letter Writing Challenge begins now. The 1st letter is to my Crush. I’m so far past that that it just wouldn’t be right or exact to put him on blast all up & thru. I’m trying & failing to keep it real Jay & Bey. It would’ve worked if I’d ever believed he’d be more than my Crush & kept his nickname to myself. Anywho…that leaves me with more than a conundrum. I committed to this challenge but can’t exactly get started where I said I wanted to. What to do? What to do?

Light bulb moment!! Imma write to someone with a crush on me & completely skip the truly open opportunity to break my silence here.

Dear Crush,

Hey Man, Hey. I know I was s’posed to call you back so we could rap a taste about your confession. Honestly, I just didn’t know what to say & still don’t.

Last summer was so much fun!! Verbal slap boxin’ with you was definitely a highlight. For a couple of weeks I thought I liked you in the get to know you better kind of way. Well, I did—do—but perhaps not in the ways you may want to get to know me. The chemistry is obviously there, enough so that I think a not so crowded room full of people ALL peeped. To pursue something takes more than chemistry though. The quick glimpses into the disarray that is your life world helped me to quicken the pace on my finding my track shoes & runnin’ on away from you. In truth, you knew the moment that pink slip from the water company fell outta your journal you only confirmed for me that Pig Pen is more than a cartoon character. My OCD & your lifestyle might don’t make sense.

All in all, the whole summer experience brought great people into my life, prime for what I hope to be lifelong friendships. You are definitely included in that. I intend to have a great deal of fun with you over the coming years. I can’t always predict the future, but I suspect as we grow in this friendship, some of our interaction will include the introduction of significant others. The more the merrier, right?

So…save me a sammich off the truck, keep a brunch date open for me e’ry now & then for us to catch up, & make sure you come bring the fevah to all my game nights. I promise the crazy quotient will be exponentially decreased. & just in case you might don’t see this…#answeryophone!!

Sincerely,

Life

Watch me move.

  1. lol. I haven't been reading blogs lately, so it's funny I made my return for this piece. Are we the same woman? Cause ish has been real parallel in our lives.

  2. Funny...the Bestie said there's so much about us that he finds similar before you even get to the teacher piece.
